The traditional kilt hose (or "socks") are pulled up to the knee, then, after the flashes are strapped on, folded down over the flash bands. Or if you want an alternative look, these hose look great scrunched down toward the ankle with a pair of hiking boots and a Utility Kilt.

I wear them all the time with my skirts/kilts. I just wish more colors were available, but what I have works for nearly everything. I could use a light purple.
